Bursaries & Scholarships

Bursaries

Each year two bursaries of $1000 are available.

Bursaries are based on the applicant's financial need. Bursaries are offered to students entering a University or equivalent institute of higher learning, such as a technical or vocational institute, involving training for which high school graduation is a prerequisite.

Students must attend two consecutive seminars beginning in the fall and carry a full course load (by student loan definition).

Bursary awards give primary consideration to the family's financial need. Although other applicants will be considered, preference is given to children and grandchildren of Veterans and ex-service personnel that served in Canadian or British Commonwealth Forces.

Scholarships

Two Scholarship awards of $1000 each are available each year.

Scholarships are based on academic achievement. A minimum of 75% academic standing in the final year of courses is required. Preference is given to children and grandchildren of Veterans and ex-service personal that served in Canadian or British Commonwealth Forces.

Applications for both are available at Pleasant Valley Secondary School.

The Earl Colter Bursary and Scholarship Fund was left to the care of the Br. 35 Legion in the estate of Earl Colter.

Eligibility is extended to Br. 35 Members, children/legal guardianship children whose parents or grandparents are members of R.C.L. Branch 35, Armstrong, and who have been members of Br. 35 for a minimum of 2 years.

The maximum dollar value is $2000.
